The Campania Region is issuing a new warning about a scam circulating via SMS messages addressed to citizens. The regional administration itself announced the news, urging citizens to exercise extreme caution in a statement posted on its social media channels.
According to reports, the fraudulent messages refer to alleged health offices, using misleading acronyms and names such as CUP or GUP, the latter presented as “Gestione Unica Prenotation”.
In some cases, users are asked to urgently contact the "GUP offices" by calling numbers beginning with the prefix 899; in others, reference is made to a phantom "Primary Single Center," with an invitation to call back numbers beginning with 893, often accompanied by the generic formula "for important communications concerning you."
The Region clarifies that these are exclusively paid numbers, completely unrelated to the actual regional Single Booking Centre, and reiterates that there is no connection between these contacts and the official health services.
Citizens are urged to do not call back, do not reply, and delete the message immediately. If you receive the message, you are also advised to report the incident to the Postal Police so they can investigate and take any necessary action.
Finally, the Campania Region recommends always being wary of suspicious communications and relying exclusively on official channels for information regarding health services.

It's important to know about these scams, but I don't understand how people fall for these traps. They should do more to inform and post clearer warnings; this way, everything is confusing.
