The operation was triggered during a routine territorial control service carried out by the military of the Villaricca station.
The patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle carrying two men: Raffaele D'Ausilio and 28-year-old Luigi Zannella. The occupants' agitation prompted the Carabinieri to investigate further, immediately finding two doses and 24 bars of hashish ready for sale, as well as €350 in small denomination bills, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The raid on the house
The pushers' true "treasure" emerged during the subsequent search of the D'Ausilio couple's home. Upon their arrival, the officers caught the man's wife, Cristina Napolano, red-handed, selling drugs to buyers on her doorstep. This scene confirmed the existence of a fully-fledged domestic drug dealing ring.
The kidnapping and the prison
Inside the apartment, the Carabinieri officers found a large quantity of drugs: 3,2 kilos of hashish, a stash ready to flood the local market. In addition to the narcotics, they seized various materials for cutting and packaging the doses.
The three were immediately arrested on charges of possession and trafficking of narcotics; after completing the necessary formalities, they were transferred to prison and held at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The operation seems serious, but I wonder if it's really that effective. Drugs are still circulating, and law enforcement is unable to stop this seemingly endless and ever-growing phenomenon, so a more effective strategy is needed.
