Naples – Yet another case of domestic violence against women has emerged in Naples, confirming how widespread and often invisible the phenomenon remains. Carabinieri officers from the Quartieri Spagnoli station have arrested a 46-year-old man, considered a serious suspect in the crimes of domestic abuse and assault against his wife.
The pre-trial detention order was issued by the Court of Naples at the request of the Naples Prosecutor's Office. The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office's IV Section—specializing in gender-based violence and the protection of vulnerable groups—has uncovered a pattern of physical and psychological abuse that has been ongoing since 2023.
The woman, suffering from a prolonged escalation of aggressive and harassing behavior, reported constant insults, threats, humiliation, and assaults from her husband. As often happens in domestic violence cases, these incidents were reported only on rare occasions and then retracted, for fear of possible retaliation.
The turning point in the investigation came on January 13th. During a patrol, Carabinieri officers heard screams coming from the couple's home. Immediate intervention allowed them to catch the man violently assaulting his wife. Subsequent investigations and the testimonies gathered strengthened the evidence against him.
The episode is part of a wave of domestic violence that continues to surface only in the most dramatic moments, when the silence breaks. A phenomenon that, according to investigators, remains largely hidden and fueled by the victims' fear and isolation.
