Carabinieri arrest 19-year-old in Barano for hashish and cash in his wallet.

He had everything he needed for dealing: drugs, scales, and €880 in cash. The police stopped him in Piazza San Rocco, and a search of his home doubled the amount seized.

Barano – Carabinieri officers from the Ischia branch spotted him while he was parked next to his scooter in Piazza San Rocco. A routine check turned into an arrest within minutes. The young man, a 19-year-old from Serrara Fontana with a clean criminal record, was arrested on charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Scales and cash in the purse

The personal search was immediately successful: in the boy's purse, the officers found three pieces of hashish, weighing a total of 73 grams, a precision scale, and a sum of cash equal to 880 euros, believed to be the likely proceeds of the illegal activity.

Three more loaves hidden in the house

At that point, the search was extended to the 19-year-old's home. And there, too, the investigators hit the mark: three more blocks of the same substance, totaling an additional 290 grams, were well hidden within the home. In total, nearly 370 grams of hashish were ready to be released onto the local market.

Waiting for the judgment

The young man, with no criminal record and no prior convictions, is now awaiting trial. The operation is part of the anti-drug dealing effort carried out by the Ischia-based company, which is particularly attentive to the phenomenon in densely populated and tourist areas.

I don't know how a 19-year-old could find himself in a situation like this. It's amazing how people can hide drugs in their homes and have so much cash. This is a problem that affects us all, and I hope justice is served.
