Naples – A "trip" to the heart of Naples ended with handcuffs. This is the outcome of an operation conducted Wednesday evening by the State Police, which arrested four young men with no criminal record, aged between 18 and 21, all from Aversa.
The entire group has been charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics for the purpose of dealing, while three of them have also been charged with illegal possession of weapons.
The roadblock in the center
The intervention was triggered when officers from the "Nibbio" motorcycle patrols of the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue intercepted the suspicious car as it was traveling along Via Foria, near the intersection with Via Duomo.
The occupants' behavior immediately alerted the police, who decided to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
The investigative hunch proved correct: a 21-year-old member of the group found a replica model 92 pistol, well hidden under the rear passenger floor mat (driver's side).
The weapon, a faithful reproduction of the one issued to law enforcement, had been modified by removing the red cap required by law, making it indistinguishable from a real firearm at first glance.
The White Arsenal and the Knives
Extending the search to the other passengers and the passenger compartment, a veritable cache of narcotics and bladed weapons was discovered. The driver, a 19-year-old, was found in possession of three packages of hashish (approximately 74 grams), a dose of marijuana, €280 in cash, and a kitchen knife with the blade still stained with narcotics, a clear sign of its recent use for cutting doses.
An even larger amount was found on one of the two 18-year-old girls in the car: she was hiding a block of hashish weighing over 102 grams (2.5 ounces) and a dangerous butterfly knife with a 10-centimeter blade. The other girl, the same age, was carrying two bags of marijuana and €250 in small bills.
The raid on the homes
Convinced that the street arrest was just the tip of the iceberg, officers extended their searches to the suspects' homes in Aversa. The suspicion was confirmed at the home of the 21-year-old (the person who had access to the replica pistol): 24 additional packages of marijuana, nine packages of hashish, and two precision scales, unmistakable drug-dealing instruments, were seized from the apartment.
The investigations
The four were arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. Investigators are now working to reconstruct the events of the evening: the goal is to determine whether the four young men had come to Naples to stock up on drugs to resell in the Aversa countryside or whether, conversely, they were attempting to sell the goods in the Neapolitan marketplace.

Yes, it's true that the operation was effective, but we must also address the causes of these situations. Young people sometimes find themselves caught up in bad company and making bad choices.
The news of these young people's arrests is very worrying, but it's important that the police do their job properly. I hope this operation helps reduce drug trafficking in the city.
