Carabinieri from the Forino station reported a 56-year-old local woman for possession of counterfeit banknotes, following a territorial control operation established to prevent and suppress crime.

The woman was driving a car stopped in a residential area. During their checks, officers noticed a suspicious package inside the vehicle. In light of the driver's reportedly anomalous responses regarding the contents, they proceeded to search her and the vehicle.

Counterfeit banknotes worth a total of €10.000 were found inside the package. The money was seized, and the 56-year-old woman was reported to the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office.

The operation, the Carabinieri explained, is part of the efforts to combat the circulation of counterfeit currency conducted by the Avellino Provincial Carabinieri Command.
