Alife – A night of grief has shaken the Caserta community. A serious traffic accident, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, claimed the life of a 17-year-old man, Andrea Grillo, originally from Piedimonte Matese.
The tragedy occurred on Via Scafa, near a gas station, along a straight stretch of road that left the boy with no escape route.
A fatal crash into a premises
According to initial investigations by law enforcement, the victim was riding a motorcycle with a 19-year-old friend. For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and crashing violently into the wall of a local restaurant.
Preliminary investigations appear to rule out the involvement of other vehicles: it appears to have been a single-vehicle accident that occurred in a section of the roadway apparently free of dangerous curves.
The rescue and the desperate rush to the hospital
The alarm was raised immediately, bringing 118 ambulances and the local Carabinieri to the scene. Andrea Grillo's condition immediately appeared critical to paramedics.
The 17-year-old was rushed to the nearby Piedimonte Matese hospital, but all attempts to save him were in vain: he died shortly after his arrival due to the very serious injuries he sustained in the crash.
Another young man fights for his life
Equally worrying is the situation of his 19-year-old friend who was on the motorcycle with him. After receiving initial treatment on the scene, the boy was rushed to Caserta Hospital. He is currently hospitalized with a guarded prognosis, and although no definitive updates on his medical progress have been released, doctors describe his condition as very serious.
Investigations are underway into the dynamics
The Carabinieri remain at work to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the accident. The reasons why the motorcycle veered off course on a straight stretch of road remain unclear: investigators are considering possible causes such as high speed, a possible mechanical failure, or a sudden illness on the part of the rider. The news of Andrea's disappearance has thrown the entire Matese area, where the family is well-known, into disarray.
The young man was in fact a boxer from the Pugilistica Matesina club, which today posted a post of remembrance and condolences.
