Naples Police Headquarters continues to conduct extraordinary checks against drug trafficking in the city's most sensitive areas. The Porta Capuana area has once again come under police scrutiny, where a man was arrested last night following a turbulent operation.
A 49-year-old Moroccan man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and resisting arrest. Officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station located him on Via Carriera Grande while, according to the reconstruction, he was carrying out several drug sales with an accomplice.
When police intervened to stop the drug dealing activity, the man allegedly attempted to evade detection, resulting in a scuffle before being finally apprehended. They found on him four packages of heroin weighing approximately one gram, an eight-gram package of hashish, and fifteen psychotropic pills.
The alleged accomplice, however, managed to escape by taking advantage of the turbulent moments of the operation. The forty-nine-year-old was arrested and will now face charges filed by the judicial authorities, while surveillance continues in the area, considered among the most vulnerable to retail drug dealing.

It's important that authorities continue to carry out checks for the safety of citizens. However, I wonder whether these operations can actually reduce drug trafficking in the long term or are they merely temporary measures.
