Giugliano – An attempted robbery at a tobacco shop failed thanks to the owner's quick reaction, who subdued the robber after a struggle. The man, a 55-year-old Neapolitan, was arrested on charges of attempted aggravated robbery.
The alarm and the intervention of the Police
Yesterday morning, officers from the Giugliano in Campania Police Station responded to Via Ripuaria following a report from the Operations Room: a robbery was in progress inside a commercial establishment. Arriving on the scene within minutes, the officers found that the alleged perpetrator had already been apprehended by the business owner.
The dynamics of the assault
According to the reconstruction, the 55-year-old entered the business armed with a screwdriver and threatened one of the employees at the register, demanding that he hand over the day's takings with the phrase, "Give me all the money." The employee refused, and the situation degenerated into a fight. The owner, who intervened to defend the employee, managed to physically restrain the attacker, preventing him from escaping.
The immediate arrest
Once the facts were established, State Police officers arrested the man for attempted robbery. The 55-year-old was taken to the police station for formalities and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The incident once again highlights the courage of merchants in countering criminal activity, but also the dangers of these acts, often carried out with improper weapons such as screwdrivers or knives. Investigations are ongoing to verify any criminal history of the suspect and to determine whether he acted alone.

The article reports a very important fact, but I don't understand why people use improper weapons like screwdrivers to commit robberies. This behavior puts everyone at risk; I hope there are more controls.
