The high-impact operations ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters to curb the drug-gun trade in the area continue unabated. Yesterday morning, a targeted operation led to the arrest of BG, a 26-year-old Neapolitan man already known to law enforcement.
A young local man was arrested after being stopped by officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station while driving his car on Via Suor Maria della Passione Beata. A routine check that, within minutes, escalated into a full-scale seizure.
The portable arsenal: cocaine and ammunition in the cockpit
In the vehicle, the police found a veritable drug dealer's kit: 163 grams of cocaine already divided and ready to be placed on the market, packaging material, 350 euros in cash divided into banknotes of various denominations and, a disturbing detail, six 9x21 caliber bullets.
This equipment immediately aroused the investigators' suspicions, prompting them to broaden the scope of their searches.
The surprise in the house: 21 counterfeit 50-euro notes.
The officers' hunch proved to be a winning one. An extensive search of the 26-year-old's home uncovered a second, unexpected source of illicit activity: 21 counterfeit 50-euro bills, perfectly packaged and ready to be spent or distributed through other networks.
A counterfeit loot with a total value of 1.050 euros, seized along with drugs and ammunition.
The charges and the trial
At the end of the operation, the young man was arrested and will now have to answer for a series of crimes: illicit possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, counterfeiting, spending and introducing counterfeit currency into the country, as well as the illegal possession of ammunition.
The suspect, pending direct trial, has been taken to the Naples prison at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
