Casavatore – Democratic Party branch congress: Domenico Panella elected secretary. This morning, the Democratic Party branch in Casavatore held its branch congress to elect both a new Provincial Secretary and a new branch secretary, following the resignation of Gianluca Annunziata.
A single motion with a powerful title that captures the personality and ideas championed by the new secretary, Domenico Panella, over years of activism and dedication for a Strong and United Democratic Party. As he explained in his motion, Panella is a simple man, with a life of work, family, and a passion for politics.
"Listening is a fundamental element in understanding where we are and what priorities we need to address. Without an understanding of our starting point, it's impossible to chart a course for a better future," Panella said.
Casavatore is governed by a majority and a coalition that the Democratic Party plays a key role in supporting and guiding, and our duty is to ensure administrative stability, quality decisions, and a strategic vision for development. The relationship between the Democratic Party (PD) branch, the municipal administration, the council majority, and the governing coalition must be based on loyalty, political dialogue, and shared responsibility. The political unity of the Democratic Party strengthens the entire coalition and increases its ability to respond to citizens' needs.
"Among the political and administrative priorities for the coming period," Domenico Panella writes, "the Democratic Party identifies some of vital importance for the region." Completion of works and facilities financed by the PNRR (National Renewable Energy Network) funds, approval of the Municipal Urban Plan (PUC).
On the security front, the new secretary reiterates the need to "strengthen collaboration between the administration, law enforcement, and citizens through participatory security projects and integrated video surveillance, including the use of prevention and control tools." The secretary's "recipe" also includes a proposal to reorganize urban mobility with an efficient and integrated public transportation network, strengthen social services for vulnerable families, the elderly, and people with disabilities, with particular attention to housing and income support policies, and create an integrated local welfare network.
Regarding the environment, the focus will be on strengthening separate waste collection by proposing the introduction of more effective door-to-door systems, with incentives for virtuous citizens. Finally, parks and green areas will be redeveloped as inclusive and safe public spaces, and the energy transition will be promoted with incentives for the installation of solar panels and electric municipal vehicles.

I don't know if Panella's choice is the right one, but it seems to me that there are too many promises without any concrete plans. We'll have to see how he moves forward and whether the citizens will truly support him, otherwise it's just words.
