The body of the 75-year-old man who had thrown himself into the river on the evening of February 17th was found this morning, around midday. Volturno from the Roman bridge, in the municipality of Capua.
The search operations were conducted by the Fire Brigade of the Command of Caserta, supported by the TAS (Topography Applied to Rescue) unit, by the regional drone unit and by the divers of the Command NaplesThe body was found further down the valley, in the territory of Santa Maria la Fossa, wedged between the shrubs along the river's edge.
After the recovery, the body was handed over to the judicial authorities for the usual investigations, which will clarify the precise circumstances of the incident. The incident had caused great concern in the local community and kept rescue teams and volunteers busy searching along the Volturno River for days.
