The echoes of recent news events and the firm stance reached the heart of Caserta. On the evening of Saturday, February 7th, the Carabinieri of the local company launched a coordinated, wide-ranging operation, combing the city's key nightlife hotspots.
The toll is heavy: two reports, a precautionary seizure, and fines exceeding 22 euros.
Fourteen-year-olds seized for alcohol
The most sensitive issue concerns the serving of alcohol to very young people. At a well-known business on Via Gian Battista Vico, officers caught the owner (64) and the bartender (33) serving alcoholic drinks to two children under 16.
The Carabinieri's response was immediate: both were reported at large, while the premises were placed under preventive seizure to prevent the continuation of the crime.
The raid with NAS and NIL: irregularities and undeclared work
The operation didn't stop at protecting minors. In collaboration with specialized units of the NAS (Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit) and the NIL (Labor Inspectorate Unit), the Carabinieri raided another restaurant in the city center.
The critical issues that emerged in this case concern personnel management and workplace safety. The company's sole director was charged with:
Failure to provide health surveillance and safety training (fines of approximately €3.275).
Undeclared work: out of 16 employees, 4 were found to be undeclared, with no notice of employment.
Suspended activity and record fines
For the labor violations found, a hefty administrative fine of €19.660 was imposed. In addition to the fine, the owner was forced to shut down the premises, resulting in the immediate suspension of business operations.
These checks are part of a broader prevention strategy implemented by the Carabinieri to ensure that nightlife does not become a free zone for illegal activities, protecting both public health and fair competition among businesses in the sector.

It's right that there are checks to ensure safety, but I wonder if this operation has truly yielded tangible results. Perhaps more of this type of intervention is needed in various areas of the city.
