In Castellammare di Stabia, the battle for enforcement of public land regulations has resumed. After the Christmas holidays, the municipal police have begun a new phase of inspections aimed at restoring urban decorum. On the morning of Friday, February 6th, officers combed Via Roma, fining five businesses for illegally displaying goods on the public street without the required permits.

Fines also issued in Corso De Gasperi and Via Schito

The operation didn't stop there. A further violation was reported to a business on Corso Alcide De Gasperi. At the same time, following a check by the Guardia di Finanza on Via Schito involving an unlicensed fruit and vegetable vendor, the municipal police enforced the immediate cessation order issued by the One-Stop Shop for Productive Activities (SUAP). The vendor, a citizen of Castellammare di Stabia, saw his illegal trade stopped in its tracks.

Anti-mafia interventions and field command

The officers also executed anti-mafia interdiction orders issued by the Naples Prefecture. The entire operation, ordered by Commander Colonel Francesco Gaudio and coordinated by Lieutenant Donato Palmieri, is part of a broader plan to protect public spaces and combat widespread lawlessness.

Checks will continue in the next few days

The checks continue: the municipal police have announced further raids throughout the area to ensure compliance with regulations and the city's decorum.

I agree with you, Antonio. Urban decorum is certainly essential, but there also needs to be a dialogue between institutions and citizens to find alternative solutions to fines.

It's important that the authorities enforce the rules, but sometimes I think the fines are excessive and the merchants are just trying to make a profit. Let's hope things improve for everyone.
