Castellammare di Stabia – The Quisisana hill is still collapsing under the impact of incessant rain. A few minutes ago, a violent landslide hit Salita San Giacomo, hitting the roadway and parked cars. A torrent of mud and debris poured into the street, requiring the immediate intervention of the Fire Department and Municipal Police, who promptly closed off traffic.

Emergency and evacuated schools

The dangerous situation prompted authorities to order the emergency evacuation of a school located on Via San Giacomo. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, but property damage is evident, and tension among residents remains high.

Castellammare di Stabia is once again dramatically vulnerable. This morning's collapse is the third recorded in less than seven days.

Via Vena della Fossa: where the landslide has already forced several families to abandon their homes.

Panoramica Street: hit by a structural failure in recent days.

Salita San Giacomo: the final piece of an emergency that seems never-ending.

Law enforcement and technicians are currently working to monitor the stability of the hillside, while the city is once again questioning the stability of an increasingly fragile territory in the face of extreme weather events.
