Naples – The associations and committees representing Circumvesuviana commuters are writing to the Campania Region again: a month after requesting an urgent meeting, they claim they have not received any response from the regional transport councillor Mario Casillo.
The statement was signed by Enzo Ciniglio, spokesperson for the Facebook group "No to the Cut to Circumvesuviana Trains," Salvatore Ferraro, spokesperson for the "Circumvesuviana-Eav" group, Marcello Fabbrocini, president of the Agostino Cifariello Ottaviano civic committee, and Salvatore Alaia, president of the "E(a)Vitiamolo Sperone" civic committee.
“No mention, not even an interlocutory one”
"Last month," the document states, "commuters requested an urgent meeting with the regional transport councilor to discuss the critical situation on the Vesuvian lines. After numerous declarations, the committees expected at least a formal response, even a tentative one. Unfortunately, to date, no response has been received."
Service and testing of new trains: “Why not at night?”
The committees also target the management of rail service suspensions related to testing of new trains. "EAV's service on the Vesuvian lines is getting worse by the day," they say, "and the various service suspensions for testing the new trains are further exasperating passengers. Why not do them at night?"
The request: schedule and certain dates
According to Ciniglio, Ferraro, Fabbrocini, and Alaia, EAV "continues its questionable management" and regional politics "is unable to put a stop to it, or at least to establish a real timetable, with firm dates, to get out of this quicksand."
Commuters recall that they have been fighting for the right to mobility for "fifteen years" and announce that they will renew their request for an urgent meeting with Casillo, extending it to Regional President Roberto Fico. "Commuters demand answers and respect. It's no longer time for announcements, but for concrete action," they conclude.

It's true that commuters have been waiting for answers for a long time and the situation doesn't seem to be improving, but I think it's important to find a solution together and not just complain; we need constructive dialogue between the parties.
