Naples – A magnitude 3,5 earthquake was recorded this morning in the Campi Flegrei area, with its epicenter located in the Pisciarelli area.

Immediately after the earthquake, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, convened the Rescue Coordination Center to assess the situation and activate the procedures set out in the emergency plan.

The meeting was attended by the regional councilor for Civil Protection, Fiorella Zabatta, along with representatives of the regional Civil Protection operations room, the mayors of the most affected areas—Josi della Ragione for Bacoli and Luigi Manzoni for Pozzuoli—as well as delegates from the Metropolitan City of Naples, the Fire Brigade, the Naples Local Police, and the police forces.

INGV: seismic swarm still ongoing

During the meeting, Lucia Pappalardo, director of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, announced that the seismic swarm is still ongoing.
The phenomenon is part of the bradyseismic activity that has long affected the Phlegraean Fields, which is constantly monitored by scientists.

No critical issues reported

At this time, there are no critical issues or reported damage in the affected areas. The technical inspections initiated immediately after the earthquake did not reveal any particularly alarming situations.

Bacoli, a new settlement area is being set up

The mayor of Bacoli also announced that, starting this morning, a new adjustment zone is being set up—with the support of the regional Civil Protection—and is scheduled to be inaugurated next Tuesday.
This is a space intended to manage the population's potential needs in the event of further seismic events.

Constant monitoring

The coordination committee remains active and continues monitoring in conjunction with all relevant institutional stakeholders, with a view to prevention and timely emergency management.
