The renovation of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is now in full swing, and Napoli is preparing to play a leading role off the pitch as well, ahead of the 2032 European Championships. The City of Naples has presented the progress of the redevelopment project at the Fuorigrotta stadium to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), reassuring fans and club alike on a key point: during the work, Napoli will continue to play its home games regularly at the city stadium.

The update was presented during an online meeting between Palazzo San Giacomo and federal representatives. The presentation was led by Infrastructure Councilor Edoardo Cosenza, who detailed the plan for the facility's internal transformation, which will significantly change the stadium's appearance and functionality.

"We presented the progress of the project for the new Maradona," Cosenza explained, focusing in particular on the interior layout and the construction of a new first tier of stands much closer to the pitch. "The project is being entirely developed using BIM, which allows for great precision and flexibility," he added, emphasizing how digital technology has allowed for the simulation of every structural and visual aspect of the project.

Among the most significant changes is the repositioning of the pitch, currently not perfectly centered within the stadium. It will be aligned to ensure better symmetry and optimal visibility from every sector. The new grandstand configurations, the councilor emphasized, fully comply with UEFA standards, especially regarding sightlines from the stands.

The goal is to deliver a modern, more compact, and engaging stadium to the city, capable of offering a more intense experience to fans while also meeting the standards required to host a major international tournament. Without forced relocations and without giving up the Fuorigrotta fortress: the Maradona will change its appearance, but it will remain Napoli's home.
