Pozzuoli – After more than fifteen years, a breakthrough has been reached in the murder of Carmine Campana, killed by gunfire on May 15, 2010, in Giugliano in Campania. Carabinieri officers from the Pozzuoli branch have executed a pre-trial detention order against four individuals deemed seriously suspected of participating in the crime, both as instigators and perpetrators.
The order was issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office.
The crime and the dynamics
According to the investigative reconstruction, Campana—believed to be close to the Beneduce Camorra group—was struck in the face several times. The murder was apparently planned to reassert the Pagliuca clan's control of the Pozzuoli area and the Phlegraean Fields, during a period of tension between the two organizations.
The charges aggravated by the mafia method
The suspects are charged with premeditated murder and the illegal possession and carrying of a firearm, aggravated by mafia methods and the intent to benefit the Pagliuca clan, believed to be active in Pozzuoli.

This is a very complex and sad case involving many people. I don't know if the investigation was done properly, but I hope the truth comes out and justice is done for Carmine Campana. The situation in Pozzuoli seems increasingly dire.
