Naples – He had already been released at the end of January, just two weeks after the massive raid that dismantled the burglar ring. Now, after a new and complex judicial process, Angelo Michelini, believed by investigators to be one of the operatives of the "gang" led by Ciro Fabiano, has been granted house arrest once again.
Ping-pong among the investigating judges
The preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples, Dario Berrino, signed the order for his pre-trial detention, which was executed on January 7, 2026. Subsequently, granting the request of defense attorney Giuseppe Gallo, the judge ordered the replacement of the detention order with house arrest.
The situation, however, reversed again a few days later: the Avellino investigating judge, who in the meantime had acquired territorial jurisdiction, ordered a new arrest, deeming prison custody the only appropriate measure.
The defense appealed the decision and it was reviewed by the Naples Review Court. This morning, the Eighth Section upheld the appeal, definitively placing Michelini under house arrest.
House arrest also for Parisi
The same outcome was also found for Enrico Parisi, another alleged gang member with a criminal record for similar crimes. For him, represented by attorney Emilio Giugliano, the Court of Appeal ordered the same alternative to prison.
The blitz and the hit map
Michelini and Parisi were arrested as part of a vast operation that, at the beginning of the year, dismantled seven criminal gangs specializing in residential burglaries, operating like wildfire between Campania and Lower Lazio.
According to the prosecution, the group linked to Fabiano and Michelini was responsible for a long series of raids throughout 2024: over one hundred attacks were alleged against the entire organization, carried out primarily in Benevento, Pomigliano d'Arco, Atripalda, Frosinone, and Acerra.
The investigation remains open, while the precautionary framework for some of the suspects continues to be the subject of heated debate in the courts.
