In Teverola, members of the Marcianise Carabinieri Forestry Unit, with the support of the Local Police, conducted a targeted inspection at a local dairy as part of their efforts to combat environmental crimes.
Processing wastewater discharged directly into the sewer
During the inspection, it was discovered that the production and equipment washing water, collected through grates on the plant floor, was being conveyed and disposed of directly into the public sewer system, without any authorization and without prior purification treatment.
Obligation to store and dispose of waste through an authorized company
The documentation examined by the military revealed, however, that the wastewater should have been stored in leak-proof tanks and subsequently disposed of as liquid waste by an authorized company. The management ascertained constituted the crime of illegal discharge of industrial wastewater into public sewers.
The entire factory was seized and the person responsible was reported.
To prevent the continuation of the illegal conduct, the Carabinieri Forestali (Forest Police) proceeded with the judicial seizure of the entire dairy. The person responsible for the business was reported at large to the competent judicial authority.
