A simple message in the ELSA ETS association's WhatsApp group this afternoon triggered a rescue operation that could restore flight to a kestrel in distress.

"A falcon to be rescued near the Roccarainola Forestry Police station. Are you available?" This is the appeal launched by volunteers dedicated to wildlife conservation.

The immediate response of the volunteers

The reaction was immediate. Daphne, a volunteer for the association, responded without hesitation, confirming her availability. Together with her son Davide, she immediately went to the site to collect the bird of prey and secure it. The kestrel, visibly in distress, needed urgent care.

Emergency transfer to CRAS

After the rescue, mother and son transported the animal to the Wild Animal Recovery Center (CRAS) in Naples, a facility specializing in the care and rehabilitation of wildlife in need. Here, the kestrel will receive all the necessary treatment to stabilize its condition.

Tests are underway to determine the causes

In the coming days, the bird of prey will undergo a series of clinical tests to determine the cause of the illness. Only after the veterinary tests will it be possible to define a targeted treatment plan and estimate recovery time. The hope of all the volunteers is that the kestrel can return to its natural habitat as soon as possible.

The ELSA association's protection network

The ELSA ETS association actively contributes, through volunteer work, to the recovery of vulnerable wildlife in the Campania region. The work of these organizations is crucial to ensuring timely interventions to protect animals. The association invites anyone who wishes to contribute to join its network of volunteers, thus expanding its capacity to intervene in defense of the environment and local biodiversity.

I read this article and it seems important to me that volunteers are working to save animals in need. However, it's strange how certain situations always require immediate intervention, yet there aren't always sufficient resources. Let's hope for the kestrel.
