As part of operations to combat the illegal management of waste in the production chains of the "Land of Fires", coordinated by the Prefecture of Caserta, the financial police of the Caserta Provincial Command have seized a 1.200-square-meter factory in Pastorano (CE).
The operation, conducted by the Capua Company following a report from the local Municipal Police, involved a recently established company based in Somma Vesuviana (Naples), formally engaged in the "wholesale trade of clothing and accessories".
170 tons of unsanitized textile waste
Inside the warehouse, approximately 170 tons of textile waste, classified as non-hazardous, were found, along with mixed plastic and paper waste, equipment, and work vehicles.
The examination of the material revealed bales of used clothing, collected in urban centers but not subjected to sorting and sanitization, making them illegal textile waste.
No authorization: the illegal system is already active
The company, controlled by a 30-year-old from Naples, lacked the required environmental permits for waste treatment. Despite this, it had already opened a non-hazardous waste storage and recovery facility, which also lacked a fire prevention certificate.
The legal representative has been reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for illegal waste management and failure to prevent fires, as part of the preliminary investigation, which is still in its infancy.
