NAPLES – Public transport strengthened for the challenge between SSC Napoli e AS Roma, scheduled for Sunday evening at the Maradona Stadium. After the final whistle, Metro Line 2 will extend its service with seven additional runs to facilitate the outflow of fans from the Fuorigrotta area.
The initiative, announced by Trenitalia – Regional, born from the collaboration with Campania region e City of Naples and is part of the mobility management plan for major city sporting events. A total of 3.400 additional seats will be made available compared to the regular service.
The special trains will depart from the Naples Campi Flegrei station: five trains will run to Naples San Giovanni-Barra and two to Pozzuoli, to distribute traffic and reduce pressure on connections immediately following the match. The stated goal is to ease traffic and road congestion, encouraging the use of rail transport.
To avoid queues and delays, passengers are advised to purchase tickets in advance. Access to trains will be granted only to passengers with a valid ticket, which must be shown to designated staff. FS Group customer service staff and security personnel will be present at the Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Naples Campi Flegrei stations, in coordination with law enforcement.
The Napoli Campi Flegrei ticket office will remain open until the end of the event, while the Piazza Leopardi station will close at 10:00 PM. This extraordinary plan aims to transform an evening of high-intensity sporting action into a testing ground for sustainable mobility in the city.

The news of the increased public transport for the Napoli-Roma match is very important. I hope the extra services work well to avoid problems. But there are doubts about how traffic will be managed.
