Twenty-four hours after the dramatic fire that tore through the heart of the Teatro Sannazaro, the image that remains is that of an embrace: between the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, and the owners of the historic stage, Lara Sansone and Sasà Vanorio.
A gesture that broke protocol, delivered before a compact institutional gathering. Awaiting the Minister, in addition to the tearful owners, were Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, Regional Councilor for Culture Ninni Cutaia, and Prefect Michele Di Bari. Giuli's visit was not merely symbolic, but a signal of immediate mobilization to save Naples' "Bomboniera."
The financial rescue machine
While the Minister assessed the extent of the damage, the first financial confirmations arrived from the Management Center. At the end of the Regional Council, Campania President Roberto Fico confirmed the allocation of one million euros to address the emergency.
"The important thing is to have allocated the funds in the next budget," Fico stated. "We need to create a fund to support the start of operations, but it's clear that Councilor Cutaia, in coordination with the Ministry and the Municipality, will now have to establish the technical intervention procedures."
The "Petruzzelli Model" to overcome private constraints
The main issue concerns the theater's legal status, which is private property. This condition usually complicates the disbursement of public funds, but institutions seem to have already found a regulatory solution.
"We will have to discuss how to proceed together with the Ministry, the Region, and the Municipality, following the example of what has already been done in the past with the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari," explained President Fico.
The goal is to create a public-private partnership that will bypass bureaucratic red tape and revive the facility as quickly as possible.
An institutional synergy for culture
The swiftness of the ministerial visit and the convergence between the various levels of government (municipality, region, and state) testify to the severity of the damage suffered by Neapolitan cultural heritage. Fico praised the attention paid by the Undersecretary and Minister Giuli, emphasizing that "maximum collaboration" is the only viable path to returning the Sannazaro to the Neapolitans.
The next few hours will be crucial for defining the schedule for the remediation and restoration work, with the Prefecture continuing to act as the focal point for coordinating the safety operations.
