Naples – An attempted robbery turned into a full-blown assault on officers. A 31-year-old Moroccan man, already known to law enforcement, who staged a violent standoff in the heart of the city, ended his morning of frenzy with handcuffs.
The alarm and the blow to the distributor
It all started yesterday morning on Via Rimini. A report reached the Operations Room, alerting patrol cars from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue to a theft in progress involving a vending machine.
The officers, engaged in their usual territorial control service, rushed to the scene, surprising the 31-year-old just as he was forcing the machine open to empty the cash register.
The escape and the fight
Upon seeing the uniforms, the man refused to give up: he attempted a desperate escape on foot, but was quickly caught by the police. To avoid arrest and secure his escape, the suspect reacted with extreme violence, engaging in a fight with the operators. Despite fierce resistance, the officers managed to subdue him, finding him still in possession of numerous coins recently stolen from the vending machine.
Car crash: patrol car damaged
The man's violence didn't subside even once he was safely away. During the drive to the police station, the suspect continued to rampage, throwing himself against the passenger compartment of the police car and causing extensive damage to the state vehicle.
The 31-year-old will now have to answer to serious charges: improper robbery, resisting a public official and damaging state property.

The article describes a very serious incident, but I don't understand how someone could react so violently against law enforcement. It's important that there are stricter measures to prevent similar situations in the future, in my opinion.
