The day after the fire, a silence filled with disbelief reigns in front of the Sannazaro Theater. On Via Chiaia, in the heart of Naples, curious onlookers, tourists, journalists, and residents stand in a huddle, gazing at the remains of one of the city's cultural symbols, devastated by the flames.
Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to quell the remaining fumaroles and secure the area. This morning, two teams are still engaged in cleanup operations, which will continue throughout the day and, most likely, into tomorrow. The goal is to eliminate any remaining sources of fire and verify the stability of the structure.
An accident occurred during the firefighting operations. A firefighter was grazed by a wooden plank that had fallen from the building. He was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital for checkups. He suffered only a minor bruise, but the incident confirms the complexity and risks of the operation.
Some of the approximately sixty displaced people forced to leave their homes for safety reasons also gathered in front of the building. Structural checks on the apartments are underway, and only after the technical inspections will it be possible to determine when they will be able to return to their homes. The wait is filled with anxiety and questions still unanswered.
Former Naples mayor Antonio Bassolino also arrived on site to see the damage caused by the blaze firsthand. Meanwhile, the area remains cordoned off and under surveillance, while the city debates the cause of the fire that struck one of its historic theaters.

It's truly sad to see the Sannazaro Theater in this condition. The city of Naples has lost a piece of its culture. We hope the firefighters can resolve the situation as soon as possible and that the displaced people can return home.
