Naples – "He remains on the list today, his situation is stable, and a new evaluation will be done tomorrow." This is according to Patrizia, mother of the two-year-and-four-month-old boy hospitalized in serious condition at Monaldi Hospital in Naples, after the Heart Team meeting to decide on the possibility of another heart transplant.
The little boy is currently being kept alive by ECMO, the lifesaving machine that temporarily replaces the heart and lungs. "It's been an anxious day. Hope remains. We'll see tomorrow," his mother added.
The lawyers' request: "All medical documentation immediately."
On the legal front, Angelo Riccio, a criminal defense lawyer who is now assisting Francesco Petruzzi in assisting the family, announces that he has formally requested the hospital to release a copy of all medical records. "If the hospital doesn't do so immediately, we will contact the prosecutor's office, especially to urge them," he states.
When asked about a possible omission, Riccio speaks of difficulties in managing information: “The situation has always been very complex with regards to information, often in several cases we and the family members have received the information at a later time than third parties”.
The investigation: the follow-up cardiologist was questioned by the prosecutors.
Meanwhile, the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, as part of its investigation into the transplant performed on December 23 at Monaldi, interviewed the cardiologist responsible for post-transplant follow-up as a person informed of the facts.
The doctor reportedly resigned on December 29, 2025, six days after the failed surgery, which was attributed to the poor condition of the transplanted organ.

The situation seems complicated and difficult for the family to manage. It's important that the hospital provide all the necessary information. The baby's health is the priority; we hope for improvement tomorrow.
