Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters' extraordinary operations to combat drug dealing and possession in the city's most sensitive areas continue unabated.
Last evening, State Police officers arrested a 46-year-old man, already known to law enforcement for a prior drug-related offense, in the San Pietro a Patierno neighborhood.
Arrested in flagrante after drug deals
The operation was carried out by officers from the Secondigliano Police Station, with the support of the drug-sniffing canine unit of the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue.
The police caught the man during several drug deals: the 46-year-old, after taking something from the basement of a building, delivered the drugs to a buyer in a car.
Arrested with drugs and money
Officers responded quickly, apprehending the suspect on the spot. They found two packages of hashish, four bags of marijuana, and €740 in various denominations of banknotes on the man.
Inside the basement, 49 additional bags of marijuana and 22 packages of hashish were found. The total seized substance amounts to approximately 55 grams of marijuana and 54 grams of hashish.
A buyer was also fined
During the operation, the officers also managed to stop one of the buyers, who was administratively fined for illegal possession of narcotics for personal use.
As for the drug dealer, the evidence gathered led to his arrest by the operation personnel. He was then taken to the Poggio Reale prison for judicial review.
