Naples – A routine traffic stop turned into an arrest for drug dealing in the Ponti Rossi area. Yesterday afternoon, State Police officers stopped 50-year-old Neapolitan Pasquale Granato, already known to law enforcement for a prior drug-related conviction.
Street control
The operation began on Via Filippo Cavolino, under the jurisdiction of the San Carlo Arena Police Station. Officers, engaged in a targeted operation to combat widespread crime, ordered a scooter driven by the 50-year-old to stop. The man's behavior, or perhaps his criminal history, prompted the officers to investigate further.
A personal search uncovered nine packages of cocaine, weighing approximately 7 grams in total. In addition to the drugs, the man was also carrying €525 in banknotes of various denominations, a sum investigators believe may be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The house search
Unconvinced that this was all there was to it, and suspecting that the 50-year-old might be hiding more material, the investigators decided to extend their search to the man's home. Their hunch proved correct: inside the house, they found three more packages of the same substance, weighing an additional 3 grams.
In light of the evidence collected between the street and the home, Granato was arrested and charged with illegal possession of narcotics.

This is a fact that gives pause for thought about the safety of our roads, but it's also important to consider that not everyone is guilty simply because they have a past. The police must do their job, but justice must be fair.
