After months of forced closure, Via Agnano agli Astroni is finally open again. The stretch of road affected by last November's landslide has reopened to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, as announced by the City of Naples following the completion of emergency measures ordered to ensure the safety of the area.
The operations required complex and prolonged work. Specialized teams intervened to remove landslides, cut down unsafe vegetation, and clear the roadway of debris that threatened the stability of the road. This was necessary to eliminate any residual risk and allow for safe reopening.
With the restoration of traffic, the temporary traffic system that diverted traffic onto Via Provinciale San Gennaro, a solution that had caused inconvenience to residents and commuters for weeks, is no longer operational. The direct connection between the Terme di Agnano area and the rest of the neighborhood is now operational again, although traffic is currently only allowed in one direction.
The reopening represents a first step toward a return to normalcy for an area that had suffered severe disruptions in terms of mobility. Hydrogeological safety remains a key concern, in a region that has always been fragile and prone to landslides.
