The Benevento Financial Police have seized a significant stock of counterfeit goods, seizing approximately 300 "Labubu" plush toys—the famous dolls designed by a Hong Kong artist and distributed worldwide by the giant Pop Mart—found inside two stores in the province of Sannio. The store owners have been reported at large to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The operation was conducted by the Mobile Section of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Benevento Provincial Command, as part of their product safety and consumer protection enforcement activities. During inspections of the two stores, the officers immediately noticed something unusual: the stuffed animals on display were being sold at excessively low prices and had suspicious designs and packaging, typical signs of counterfeiting.
Goods off the market, brand protected
The entire stock was seized, thus preventing the release of potentially unsafe products onto the market, to the detriment of both consumers and the company that owns the intellectual property rights. This measure also protects fair competition among companies in the sector.
Two reports for counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods
The owners of the two businesses were charged at large with possession and sale of counterfeit products and receiving stolen goods. The case is now before the Benevento Public Prosecutor's Office.
The operation is part of the Benevento Guardia di Finanza's ongoing commitment to combating the spread of unsafe and counterfeit products, protecting citizens and the market.
I think it's fair that the Guardia checks, but I'm not sure about everything: the goods were beautiful but probably not original. The retailers sold them at too low prices; buyers should have been more careful. I hope the prosecutor's office clarifies this soon, but the laws should also be tougher against these crafty people.
