A stray cat cared for and known to residents of Pompeii was left in critical condition after being shot with a pellet gun. The animal, nicknamed "Pallino" by residents, was found last Thursday by animal rights volunteer Giancarla Gilardi, who rushed him to a veterinary clinic.
The operation: bullet in the jaw
At the clinic, the cat underwent surgery to remove the lead, which remained lodged in his jaw, and to stitch up his wounds. "With the help of another person, I immediately took him to the vet," Gilardi says. "Now he will need to undergo antibiotic therapy for two weeks and rest." After initial treatment, the animal was temporarily placed in the home of a relative of the volunteer, pending completion of the treatment.
The report to Borrelli
The volunteer reported that she contacted Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance, asking for intervention to ensure the incident does not go unpunished. Borrelli announced his intention to travel to Pompeii to check on the cat's condition and thank the volunteer.
“Cowardly violence, it must be punished”
"We are faced with a cowardly and unacceptable act of violence," Borrelli declared. "Shooting a defenseless animal is a sign of social danger that cannot be underestimated." The parliamentarian calls for those responsible to be identified "as soon as possible" and prosecuted "with the utmost severity," reiterating that crimes against animals "are crimes in every sense" and that "the most vulnerable beings" and those, like volunteers, who provide assistance in the area must be protected.

Thanks to those who helped him, but the situation cannot remain like this, the law must intervene soon, I hope that the deputy will pay attention, and that those responsible will be persecuted severely but without revenge.
It seems like a sad and strange story to me, I don't know what to say, let's hope the authorities do something, Pal1ino is a stray cat that people knew, the shooter should be found, therapy is urgent, the volunteer did a good job
