An attempted car theft was foiled last night near the Albanova train station in San Cipriano d'Aversa, in the Caserta area. Quick intervention by the Carabinieri led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, who was caught with two other accomplices attempting to break into a Fiat Panda parked outside the station.
Officers from the San Cipriano d'Aversa station, engaged in a territorial patrol aimed at preventing property crimes, noticed suspicious activity around the vehicle. Three people were loitering around cautiously, attracting the patrol's attention.
The intervention was immediate. The Carabinieri stopped the group as they attempted to open the car. The 46-year-old, originally from the Naples area, was arrested in flagrante delicto. With him were a young adult and a minor, both of whom were charged with attempted theft and unlawful possession of burglary tools.
During the search, officers found three different tools used in the break-in, which were immediately seized. The car, registered to a Caserta resident, was returned to its rightful owner, who was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
After completing the formal procedures, the arrested man was held in the holding cells of the Casal di Principe Carabinieri station, awaiting the summary hearing, as ordered by the judicial authorities informed of the incident.

The Carabinieri responded very quickly, but I wonder if there have been other reports of attempted thefts in that area. It's important to know whether security has been increased or not to prevent similar incidents in the future.
