Caserta - The Caserta Provincial Police's environmental surveillance continues unabated, having recently seized a large buffalo farm in the Demaniale area of San Tammaro.
The operation revealed a particularly serious situation, described by investigators, involving illegal disposal of animal carcasses, sewage discharges, and irregularities at work.
Decapitated and abandoned carcasses
Officers coordinated by Colonel Biagio Chiariello encountered a disturbing scene: according to investigations, the farmer had illegally disposed of the decapitated buffalo carcasses, leaving them in an open area and making them accessible to dogs and wildlife.
A short distance from the stable, an area of approximately one thousand square meters was also discovered, transformed into a veritable animal cemetery, with remains in an advanced state of decomposition—including skulls, jaws, and femurs—strewn across the ground.
Sewage spilled on the ground
The violations also include the illegal disposal of livestock effluents: manure, droppings, wash water, litter, and food waste were allegedly dumped directly onto the soil, contaminating the area.
The site is located a short distance from the "Maruzzella" landfill and is situated in an area subject to hydrogeological restrictions. Therefore, reports have been forwarded to the relevant authorities to investigate any unauthorized construction that could lead to demolition orders.
Tension during the seizure and irregular workers
The company manager, a resident of San Cipriano d'Aversa and already known to law enforcement, reportedly attempted to resist the seizure but was unsuccessful.
During the operation, three Indian workers were also identified, who were found not to be regularly employed. Further investigations are underway, while violations of gangmastering have already been reported.
Wide area, intervention with the Army and Local Health Authority
Given the overall size of the site—approximately 30 square meters—the officers relied on the support of Italian Army personnel and local health personnel.
Upon completion of the operation, the entire area was seized. The owner was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for environmental crimes, animal welfare violations, and resisting arrest.

It's incredible that these situations of environmental abuse still exist. The police should intervene more frequently and monitor them more closely; animals cannot be abandoned like this. Let's hope justice takes its course.
