Naples – While awaiting the reconstruction of the Sannazaro Theater, which was destroyed by fire yesterday, the Metropolitan City of Naples is offering the newly built Peppe Vessicchio Theater in Cardito to host the program. The announcement came from Deputy Mayor Giuseppe Cirillo, who emphasized: "Culture cannot be stopped."
The solidarity proposal from the northern suburbs
The Cardito facility, inaugurated last month with a €4 million investment from the Metropolitan City and named after the recently deceased conductor, is ready to take over. Built from scratch, it will become a temporary refuge for artists, crew, and audiences at the Sannazaro, the historic theater on Via Chiaia.
Condolences for a Neapolitan symbol
"We are deeply shocked by this serious fire," Cirillo continued. "The Sannazaro is a symbolic place of Neapolitan cultural tradition, a point of reference for history, art, and passion that touches the entire national scene." The metropolitan administration, in concert with Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, expresses its solidarity with the owners, workers, and artists who brought that stage to life.
Union for the future of the theatre
"Artistic initiatives are at the heart of our community and the Neapolitan identity," Cirillo concluded. "Today is the time to network and demonstrate that theater thrives on shared solidarity. Cardito stands with Sannazaro, together for culture."

It's sad that such an important theater as the Sannazaro was destroyed by fire. The new facility in Cardito seems like a good idea to continue promoting culture. We hope it will also work well for the audience and the artists.
