Sarno – He has chosen silence. Andrea Sirica, the 34-year-old arrested for the brutal murder of businessman Gaetano Russo, has exercised his right to remain silent.
During the hearing to validate the arrest, held before the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Nocera Inferiore, the suspect did not provide any version of events regarding what happened inside the delicatessen and bakery in Piazza Sabotino, in the heart of Sarno's historic center.
Sirica, currently under guard in the hospital, remains at the center of an accusatory framework that could soon worsen, while the city is torn between grief over the loss of a valued worker and anger over the political controversy that has accompanied the mourning.
The daughter's accusation: "He wanted to kill us too."
As the judicial process begins, chilling details emerge about the attack. The investigation could soon expand with new and very serious charges. A turning point in this regard was provided by statements made to TG1 by Cristina Russo, the victim's daughter.
According to the young woman's testimony, the 34-year-old's murderous rampage wasn't limited to her father: he also attempted to kill her and her mother. If these elements are proven, Sirica's case would drastically worsen, moving from murder to attempted triple murder or mass murder.
The vigil and the absence of politics
Meanwhile, Sarno paid its last respects to Gaetano Russo. This evening, Piazza Sabotino filled for a moment of prayer right in front of the closed shutters of the shop where the tragedy took place. Countless ordinary people, customers, and friends gathered in silent embrace to greet the family.
However, the moment of remembrance was not without tension. Many of those present noted and bitterly remarked on the absence of local political representatives and the municipal administration. This institutional void has generated discontent in a community shaken by such a violent act of violence.
The mystery of the shooting and the autopsy
The investigation continues vigorously on several fronts. Gaetano Russo's son has been interviewed extensively by investigators to reconstruct his previous relationships and the context in which the crime unfolded.
Another mystery surrounds the tense moments surrounding Sirica's arrest. In a video circulating recently, gunshots can clearly be heard. Investigators are working to shed light on this incident: they're trying to determine who pulled the trigger, with the prevailing theory being that it was an air pistol, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.
The next crucial step will be the autopsy. The autopsy on Gaetano Russo's body has been scheduled for next Monday: the results will be crucial to establishing the exact cause of death and the severity of the attack.

The situation in Sarno is very complicated. Sirica's lack of response only creates more confusion and anger in the community. Politicians should make their presence felt in these difficult times.
