Salerno – Andrea Sirica, the 25-year-old accused of murdering delicatessen owner Gaetano Russo in Sarno, is back in the news. This time, not for the brutal crime that shocked the local community, but for a new crime committed from inside Salerno's Fuorni prison, where he is currently being held.
Silence before the judge
During the hearing to validate his arrest, Sirica opted for a strategy of silence. Before the preliminary investigations judge, he exercised his right to remain silent, a "silent scene" that provided no clarification on the tragic night between February 2nd and 3rd, when he stabbed to death the 53-year-old businessman who had attempted to defend his daughter from an attack.

But as soon as he entered the Fuorni prison, the young murderer committed another crime. Using a cell phone smuggled into prison, Andrea Sirica had himself photographed with his brother Daniele, also an inmate at the same facility.
The photo, which shows the 25-year-old with obvious facial injuries sustained during the frantic capture, was subsequently posted on social networks and is circulating online.
The episode, although less serious than the murder for which he is accused, constitutes a violation of prison rules and raises questions about security within the Salerno prison.

The Sirica Brothers: A Family of Convicts
The presence of both Sirica brothers in Fuorni prison is no coincidence. Daniele Sirica, the elder of the two, has a long criminal record and has been in prison since January 2025, when he was arrested for robbery. Along with an accomplice, he attacked and robbed a man near the Sarno Circumvesuviana station.
The murder of Gaetano Russo: the reconstruction
The tragedy that led to Gaetano Russo's death occurred on the night between February 2nd and 3rd. The delicatessen owner, a father, intervened to defend his daughter from an attack by Andrea Sirica. A fight ensued that ended tragically: the 25-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed the grocer multiple times, killing him.
The arrest occurred immediately afterward, involving law enforcement. During his capture, Sirica resisted arrest, sustaining facial injuries that he now displays in the photo shared on social media.
The family is demanding justice
While Andrea Sirica is photographed in prison, Gaetano Russo's family awaits justice. The relatives of the delicatessen owner, brutally murdered while trying to protect his daughter, have expressed their grief and called for an exemplary sentence for the killer.
We are still awaiting the results of the autopsy on the victim's body, which will provide further evidence for the reconstruction of the homicide and clarify the exact sequence and severity of the blows. The results of the forensic examination will be crucial to the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office.
