NAPLES – "The automotive crisis at the Pomigliano d'Arco facility has reached a new, dramatic point of no return." These are the words of Mauro Cristiani, general secretary of the Fiom Napoli, and Mario Di Costanzo, the union's automotive director, commenting on the initiation of the collective dismissal procedure by Trasnova for 53 workers at the plant. Pomigliano d'Arco.

"This is a very serious act that throws dozens of families into uncertainty and confirms that the first to pay for the state of neglect in the sector are the workers in related industries," union representatives say. "This is not an unexpected event, but rather the story of a disaster waiting to happen."

The FIOM union has taken aim at the automotive group's industrial decisions. "The responsibilities are clear and shared: Stellantis continues to implement production cuts that severely impact the supply chain, depriving historic sites like Pomigliano of prospects," Cristiani and Di Costanzo attack. They also had harsh words for Trasnova: "It has chosen the most drastic route of collective dismissal, abandoning any form of protection for those who have ensured production continuity for years."

The union also points the finger at the government. "The government is guilty of sloppy management of the dispute and the lack of industrial policies capable of compelling multinationals to respect the local area and employment levels." The dispute has dragged on for over a year. "Over the past fifteen months, MIMIT representatives have stated they were working on an alternative employment solution, without ever providing details or comprehensive answers. The time for waiting is over," the union leaders insist.

For this reason Fiom Napoli wrote to the president of the Campania region, Roberto FicoWe request prompt intervention by the ministry to present concrete solutions to resolve the dispute. The cost of industrial decisions cannot continue to be passed on to workers.
