Naples – It wasn't just any Friday night for the beating heart of Neapolitan nightlife. Amid the elegant streets of Chiaia, a large-scale joint operation combed through the most popular venues, transforming the famous "baretti" (little bars) into a theater of thorough inspections.

Carabinieri from the Naples Central Company, the Local Health Authority (ASL), the Municipal Police, and the Fire Brigade have joined forces for a wide-ranging service aimed at ensuring safety and legality.

Untraceable food in an “award-winning” pizzeria

The dramatic turn of events occurred on Via San Pasquale, where the inspections also targeted a top Neapolitan restaurant, a multiple Gambero Rosso award-winning establishment. Despite its prestige, ASL inspectors found and seized 25 kilos of untraceable food, hidden deep within a kitchen that had been subjected to scrutiny.

In addition to the food irregularities, an unauthorized sign was also found, bringing the total fines for the entrepreneur to approximately €2.500.

Underage drinking and occupation of public land

The inspection then moved to Via Bisignano, a hub for youth entertainment. Here, a well-known establishment was caught serving alcohol to a seventeen-year-old. The establishment was also subject to action for illegal occupation of public land and a lack of noise permits, a violation also found at a nightclub on Via Santa Caterina.

The balance: road safety and the fight against illegal building

The operation, which concluded only at dawn, returned significant numbers that outline a picture of extreme vigilance:

80 people identified and 22 vehicles checked.

17 traffic violations and 4 vehicles seized.

Five illegal parking attendants reported, confirming a scourge that's hard to eradicate.

2 young people reported to the Prefecture for drug users.
