On the afternoon of Thursday, February 13, officers from the Villa Literno Carabinieri Station, along with experts from the Caserta Labor Inspectorate, searched several businesses.
First target: the legal representative of a company selling seafood. Caught red-handed using cameras and microphones to spy on employees, without union agreement or the authorization required by Article 4, paragraph 1, of Law 300/1970 (Workers' Statute).
The baker is also charged with the same crime: prying eyes in the kitchen.
A similar setback for the owner of a sole proprietorship baking business. He too had installed video surveillance systems in his work areas, violating the same rules protecting his workers' privacy. No exemption was granted: he was immediately reported at liberty.
No medical visits in the perfumery and games shop
A third case, different but equally serious, is the legal representative of a perfume, stationery, and toy company who was reported for failing to undergo mandatory employee health checks, as required by Article 18 of Legislative Decree 81/2008. This was a health risk that was ignored.
Investigations are continuing to uncover further irregularities, while the Carabinieri have already alerted the Prosecutor's Office. This is a clear warning against exploitation in the economic fabric of Villa Literno.

It's a fact that the military has done a significant job uncovering irregularities in the workplace. I hope all businesses are thoroughly inspected to avoid problems like those described in the article, but some disagree.
