Bari – The Bari DIGOS (Special Operations Unit) continues its work to clear out violent fringe groups of organized supporters. More than two years after the incident, the State Police have identified two additional individuals involved in the attack on a group of Avellino supporters, which occurred on November 12, 2023, along the highway.

That day, a commando of Bari ultras ambushed their Irpinia rivals as they stopped at the Murgia Ovest rest area. The green-and-white fans were traveling to Brindisi, where the team was expected for a Serie C match against the Apulian side.

The investigation, meticulously conducted by officers coordinated by Police Chief Annino Gargano, allowed them to reconstruct roles and responsibilities, leading to the issuance of two additional DASPO (Banning of Attendance at Sporting Events) orders. These latest orders bring the total number of orders issued for the cowardly highway ambush to seven, confirming the police's ongoing commitment to combating violence in stadiums and at major transport hubs.

It's important that the police continue their work to identify the perpetrators of these attacks. However, the question arises as to whether measures like the DASPO are truly effective in the long term, given that the violent incidents continue.
