Salerno – The Salerno Police Chief has ordered the 15-day license suspension of a well-known venue in Scafati. The measure, carried out by personnel from the Administrative and Social Police Division, stemmed from a recommendation from the Scafati Carabinieri station following serious incidents of violence that put public safety at risk.
The gunshot wound
The temporary closure stems from an extremely serious incident that occurred on the night of January 4th. What began as a fun evening degenerated into a violent brawl between young patrons inside the establishment.
The situation quickly got out of hand when a gunshot was fired, hitting one of the participants in the back. The injured young man was then rushed to the Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore for treatment.
Safety and prevention on the territory
The measure adopted by the Public Safety Authority is not strictly punitive in nature, but serves a specific preventative purpose. The Police Commissioner's objective is twofold: to interrupt the spiral of violence linked to that particular gathering point and to send a clear signal for the protection of public order.
The measure aims to prevent similar incidents from recurring, ensuring the safety of residents and patrons in nightlife areas.
Constant monitoring by law enforcement
The operation is part of a broader territorial monitoring effort promoted by the Salerno Provincial Command of the Carabinieri. Collaboration between the various police forces remains the primary strategy for combating illegal activities in public gathering places. Tight controls will continue throughout the province to ensure that public spaces remain safe spaces for socializing and not the scene of armed conflict.

I agree in part, but not entirely. The measure is preventative and fair, of course, but small businesses often suffer the consequences of a few, while true responsibility remains unclear. The community must participate, and checks must be ongoing, not just when serious incidents occur and then forgotten.
This is worrying news, but not everything is handled this way. The Carabinieri and the police have implemented this procedure, but it seems there's a lack of information. Nightlife is a common problem, people go out and don't regulate themselves, and then when a collision occurs, everyone says "I'll deal with it later." More thorough checks are needed, but not overdoing it.
