Naples – Work on the redevelopment of the colonnade and artisan workshops in Piazza del Plebiscito will begin in April. The announcement was made by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, at the end of a meeting held this morning at the Prefecture, during which the status of the work in the monumental area was reviewed.
The square, the prefect explained, is currently undergoing multiple activities, some of which are already underway. The new project, starting next spring, will have a total value of €4.3 million and will focus specifically on the colonnade and the spaces designated for artisan workshops.
Meanwhile, Bari added, the procedures for assigning the shops will also be initiated through public tenders.
At the same time, the overall project to improve the lighting of Piazza del Plebiscito, the surrounding buildings, and the Royal Palace is being finalized.
The project, already fully funded, has a budget of approximately €7 million. However, work will not begin immediately: the contracting process is still being determined, and will be handled by the City of Naples.

It's good news that this work is being done in Piazza del Plebiscito, but I hope there aren't too many inconveniences for residents while they work. A lot of money has been spent, and I hope it yields good results.
