Nola – The silence of Via Circumvallazione is broken only by the rustling of flowers placed before a makeshift altar. Nola awoke like this, suspended between disbelief and breathtaking grief, to gather around Domenico's family.
The child, just two years and four months old, surrendered yesterday at the Monaldi Hospital after a sixty-day ordeal, which began with a heart implant that unfortunately turned out to be damaged.
The community's tribute
Traces of a collective wound remain on the asphalt and the walls. "You shouldn't have become news, you should have grown up," reads the banner hung a few steps from the little boy's home. It sums up a tragedy that has struck a chord not only with his acquaintances, but with the entire province.
In front of the barriers protecting the candles, the pilgrimage is constant: mothers holding their children's hands, passersby stopping to make the sign of the cross, bars where the usual morning chatter has given way to whispered and bitter comments.
The city mourning
The institutions responded immediately to the outpouring of emotion in the square. Mayor Andrea Ruggiero has already announced that a day of mourning will be declared for the day of the funeral. A formal act to express the grief that, in fact, already affects every resident of Nola.
The embrace of Naples
But the emotion reached beyond the city of Gigli, reaching all the way to Naples. Outside the stadium, the Azzurri fans wanted to dedicate a final thought to Domenico, entrusting it to the immortal words of Pino Daniele: "I'm close to you... because the world is disgusting." A line that today sounds like a denunciation and, at the same time, a lullaby for a child who should have had his whole life ahead of him.

Reading about this tragedy, I was deeply moved. A citywide mourning is justified, but what truly matters is the memory of that child and the support for his family in these difficult times.
The situation described in the article is devastating and leaves us speechless. It's important that we join forces as a community to support the family during this difficult time and never forget little Domenico.
This article is very sad and makes you think about how life can be so unfair. A child this young dying is something that should never happen. I hope the family finds strength.
