Naples – The North Naples Prosecutor's Office has closed its investigation into the femicide of Martina Carbonaro, the 14-year-old killed in Afragola on May 26, 2025, by her ex-boyfriend Alessio Tucci, now 19.
The indictment, however, no longer includes the aggravating circumstance of cruelty, initially contested during the pre-trial phase. Four aggravating circumstances remain, however, which expose the defendant to a life sentence.
The charges: aggravated voluntary homicide
The Aversa magistrates charged Tucci with voluntary homicide, aggravated by: abject and futile motives; having committed the crime against a person with whom he had a romantic relationship; having killed a minor under 18; and having taken advantage of local circumstances that hindered the victim's defense.
An accusatory framework that, even without the aggravating circumstance of cruelty, precludes the abbreviated trial procedure and maintains the risk of life imprisonment.
The ambush in the abandoned farmhouse
According to investigators' reconstruction, Martina was convinced by her ex-boyfriend to meet him in an abandoned farmhouse near the Afragola municipal stadium.
Inside the building, when the girl refused to hug him, Tucci allegedly attacked her by hitting her from behind with a stone, causing her death.
The hidden body and the searches
The 14-year-old's body was found the next day, hidden under a pile of rubbish inside the farmhouse.
Tucci himself also took part in the searches, and later confessed to the crime.
Forensic medical report: cruelty excluded
Initially, the investigating judge had deemed the aggravating circumstance of cruelty to exist, hypothesizing a relentlessness that was not necessary to commit the crime.
The forensic medical report, however, led the Prosecutor's Office – headed by the new prosecutor Domenico Airoma – to exclude this charge, deeming that the conduct did not technically exceed homicide.
The defense is evaluating its next moves
Now it's up to the defense. "We can now request and analyze the documents," said Tucci's attorney, Mario Mangazzo, "and decide whether to request an interrogation or file a defense brief."
With the conclusion of the investigation, the proceedings enter the decisive phase that will lead to the request for indictment in one of the most serious cases of child femicide recorded in the Naples area in recent years.

Martina Carbonaro's case is a very sad one, but I don't understand why the aggravating circumstance of cruelty was removed. In my opinion, even without it, the defendant deserves a severe sentence, because she did something horrendous.
