Shots fired in broad daylight, in the heart of the city. A new, disturbing episode of armed violence occurred in Afragola, where a full-scale shooting took place just meters from City Hall, sowing fear among residents.
The lunchtime shooting
According to reports posted on social media, around 12:30 PM today, Sunday, January 8th, unknown individuals fired several Kalashnikov shots along the road. This swift and violent action, occurring at a busy time of day, seriously endangered the safety of passersby.
Law enforcement immediately responded to the scene, finding numerous spent bullet casings on the asphalt and launching an investigation to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident has rekindled security concerns in the city.
Investigations underway and security alert
Investigators are working to clarify the context of the shooting, not ruling out any leads. Concerns remain high about a possible criminal escalation in an area already plagued by violent incidents, particularly given the dramatic nature of the attack and the symbolic location chosen for the armed action.
The harsh condemnation of Europa Verde
The political world's reaction was harsh. "What happened in Afragola is extremely serious and unacceptable. Shooting wildly in the middle of the street means deliberately endangering the lives of innocent citizens. This barbaric act must be condemned in the strongest terms," stated Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Alliance Verdi Sinistra party, and Salvatore Iavarone, a representative of Europa Verde in Afragola.
"We demand," they added, "that those responsible be identified as soon as possible and punished as they deserve, without any discount. Anyone who thinks they can turn our streets into a lawless Wild West has completely misunderstood. The State must be present, visible, and uncompromising to stop this spiral of violence that is suffocating our territories."

I honestly don't understand how anyone could shoot in the middle of a crowd. Something serious must be done to stop these events that put the lives of ordinary people at risk.
