A new episode of violence rocked Arzano yesterday evening, when two people in a car were approached by another vehicle from which several gunshots were fired.
The toll is tragic: one dead and one seriously injured. The attack, which occurred in the heart of a residential area, has once again put the spotlight on security in the area north of Naples.
The Prefecture's response
The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, strongly condemned the incident and ordered immediate countermeasures. In an official statement, the Prefecture announced increased targeted checks throughout the Arzano area and surrounding municipalities, with an increased law enforcement presence in the area.
"Particular attention will be paid to the area through further enhanced controls," reads the Prefecture's statement, which emphasizes its commitment to ensuring citizens' safety and combating all forms of illegality.
Institutions close to the territory
The Prefect emphasized the need for a constant police presence to increase the perception of institutional closeness to the population and local governments. The objective is twofold: to thoroughly monitor the area and prevent further criminal incidents.
The matter will be examined in depth at an upcoming Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, where further strategies to combat crime in the northern Naples area will be defined.
