Naples – Twenty-four hours of severe weather is approaching Campania. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow-level weather alert for the entire day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4th, from 12:00 PM until 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 5th.

The alert, issued based on the Functional Center's assessments, predicts the arrival of sudden and intense thunderstorms, though short-lived, across almost the entire region. Only the Alta Irpinia, Sannio, and Tanagro areas are excluded.

The phenomena, which are particularly strong and rapidly evolving on a local scale, will be accompanied by lightning, gusts of strong wind, and possible hail.

The forecast presents a margin of uncertainty, but the effects on the ground could be significant. Among the main critical issues reported are: flooding, sudden rises in water levels, and surface runoff on roads. Given the fragility of the slopes, the risk of landslides and rockfall cannot be ruled out.

Strong winds, hail, and electrical discharges could also cause damage to roofs and exposed structures.

The Civil Protection Department has urged all municipalities in the affected areas to activate their Municipal Operations Centers (COCs) and implement the prevention and mitigation measures set forth in local plans. Monitoring public green spaces to prevent falling trees or branches is also recommended.

The public is urged to pay close attention to updates released by the Regional Civil Protection Operations Room.

The news of the severe weather arriving in Campania is a bit worrying, but let's hope there aren't too many problems. Storms and the risk of landslides are serious, but I hope the Civil Protection Department is ready to deal with emergencies.
