Naples – This morning, at the Government Palace in Naples, the "Memorandum of Understanding for the operational management of requests for entry into Italy by foreign citizens participating in the America's Cup – Naples 2027" was signed. The agreement aims to speed up and streamline entry procedures for EU and non-EU workers, technicians, contractors, consultants, and their companions involved in the 2027 sailing event.

An interinstitutional effort coordinated by the Prefect

The protocol is the result of months of intense collaboration between institutions, promoted by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari. The City of Naples, the Police Headquarters, and the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate participated, with the support of Andersen Italia's Immigration Team (Paolo Lucarini and Giovanni Guidone), the exclusive provider of legal and tax services for the 38th edition of the competition.

Simplifications in compliance with the regulations

In compliance with current regulations, the Working Group has simplified procedures, reduced permit issuance times, and streamlined the required documentation. The goal is to balance administrative efficiency and legal certainty, facilitating the arrival of foreign personnel for the event.

Virtuous model for large events

This agreement represents an example of collaboration between public bodies and private professionals, offering rapid and concrete solutions to the country's needs in preparation for international events such as the America's Cup.

This protocol is interesting, but more details on how the procedures are intended to be streamlined would have been needed. Transparency is important in these situations.

The agreement to manage access requests from foreigners seems like a step forward, but many aspects need to be considered. We hope the process will continue without complications.
